May 8, 2014 - The BBB serving Central California and Inland Empire Counties is pleased to announce the South Central California companies as the Ethics Award winners for Marketplace Excellence: Ortiz Automotive (small business), Courtyard Surgery Pavilion (large business), Rain for Rent (large business), and Univision (Spirt Award)
The companies officially received their awards at a recognition lunch on May 7, 2014. The Petroleum Club, located at 5060 California Avenue, Ste. 12, in Bakersfield. Dr. Christopher Meyers, Professor of Philosophy and Director of Kegley Institute of Ethics at CSU Bakersfield was the Key Note Speaker. Our very own, Kurt River of Eyewitness News was our Master of Ceremonies.
The Ethics Awards is BBB's annual award program that honors outstanding local for-profit companies that have demonstrated a commitment to ethical business practices, both in operations and in terms of integrity, reliability and responsiveness to employees, vendors and customers.

The BBB Ethics Award recognizes those businesses in Central California and Inland Empire Counties who are committed to maintaining exceptionally high standards of ethical behavior. Nominations for this award may be made by any person, company or organization. Companies do not have to be a BBB Accredited Business to be nominated. Also honored for the BBB Spirit Award was Univision for their commitment in fostering our mission to the business and consumers in the Bakersfield media.
Each year, businesses are entered in local award competitions conducted by BBB’s in every region of the country. The winning entries from the Central California and Inland Empire Counties competition are then forwarded to the Council of Better Business Bureaus, the parent organization for the BBB network, for an international competition.
