On 08/29/2023 I took my mothers wedding set to Tekin Brothers for an appraisal. At the beginning of the appraisal when examining the ring with a loupe the employee (owners son) stated twice that the diamonds were old cut diamonds to which I replied I know, its my mothers wedding ring. both times. The employee asked if he could clean it. I said yes. He then went to his brother who was behind glass working on some jewelry at the time and spoke to him. The brother immediately got up and the two of them took the ring to a back room out of sight where it remained for ***** minutes. Eventually He brought the ring to me asking how does it look? I replied its sparkly because it didnt look the same but due to my poor eyesight I wanted to examine it closer before commenting further. He quickly read the appraisal to me and now said that the diamonds were precision cut and smaller than I had previously been told. At home I viewed the ring with a loupe. It was a mess. The engagement ring and band were no longer together having a gap between them and not aligned as they were previously. The main diamond was not centered and now has an illusion setting that sits much higher than originally and the smaller ones are not spaced evenly. The setting showed where it had been melted and cut marks were visible on the prongs. Before I took it there I could not see where the rings had been attached showing two separate bands. Now the bands were obviously soldered together at the bottom. Later I spoke with the owner and he denied his son ever saying the diamonds were old cut and claimed I was only there ***** minutes. I told him to watch the security video and then call me. He agreed to do so. I have not heard from him since. I sent him pictures of the damage and asked his intentions to rectify the situation and was blocked from further communication with him. I since went to two jewelers who confirmed my observations.
