We finally got away for our anniversary on Sept 15 -16, 2021. We arrived early about 2pm and was told that the cabin was cleaned and ready for us. Upon arriving to the cabin my husband called to tell them the hot tub wasn't heating. They said it was just cleaned and to give it some time. When staying in locations as such we always run the dishwasher on kitchen items we will be using. We opened the utensil drawer to find mouse droppings. Okay, its a cabin and let it go. Then we found more droppings in the corners on the counter top. My wife had to clean the coffee pot.... she scraped residue off with one fingernail. While watching TV we watched a mouse enter from under the front door and couldn't find where it went. We called the front office and lady asked if we could wait until tomorrow since the closest person to help was an hour away?!?!? Really, you've got to be kidding? Finally, a man (who didn't bother to mask up) came with a trap. At 9:30pm my husband checked the hot tub....only 81 degrees so that wasn't useable! My wife went to get ready for bed. No blinds on the bedroom window, only a handmade curtain created out of see through bed sheet material. The same went for the living room window as well which had dried snot on it! Anyhow, she sat her bag on the bed only to notice a couple more mouse droppings. She flipped the fitted sheet back to check for bed bugs only to discover the mattress pad was so old that the plastic was crackling, peeling off. It was dirty, had more mouse droppings and some undetermined things on it. Guess they think people don't check??? At that moment we decided it was too disgusting and to say the least it was unsanitary! We left the key on the countertop, locked the door and left at 10pm. Also, nothing was mentioned to us but we discovered there was a sign on the washer/dryer units stating "out of service." Luckily we didn't need to use them. The blind on the front door obviously never had been cleaned. The mouse droppings is a health issue especially when found on the mattress pad and kitchen. No one cleaned, we were lied to! Now we question the hot tub story. After discovering the uncleanliness of the entire cabin we're thinking they had it turned off and just started it up. We could not smell any chlorine which we should have it was just cleaned. We called the next morning to state we'd left and under what terms we had done so. We also asked what could financially be resolved. The lady that answered said she'd tell the owner when he came in and that he lived over an hour away. We never heard from him so my wife called 3 times the following week. The lady said each time that she'd told him. It's obvious he runs a poor, unsafe business. We would like our money back and somehow keep the owner from doing this to others.
