Additional Complaint Information

On February 21, 2008 BBB staff contacted the company in regards to what type of business activity the company was operating. A company representative by the name of Joshua Rymer indicated they were a financial consulting firm offering their services at no cost., however recent consumer concerns suggest otherwise. Consumers are informed by the company , after the consumers inital inquiry by website or phone, that their loan application has been approved. Consumers then state they are required to provide a downpayment ranging form 10-20 percent of the requested amount in order to receive their funds.

According to the FTC legitimate offers of credit do not require an up-front payment. Although legitimate lenders may charge application, appraisal, or credit report fees, the fees generally are taken from the amount borrowed. And the fees usually are paid to the lender or broker after the loan is approved. Legitimate lenders may guarantee firm offers of credit to Ëcredit-worthyÌ consumers, but first, they evaluate the consumerÊs creditworthiness and confirm the information in the application.

Despite the company's interpretation of their business classification, the BBB found the company's website suggests Greatwide Investing services expands further than financial consultation. These services include but are not limited to home purchase loans, debt consolidation loans, personal loans, home equity loans, business loans, mortgages and high risk loans. When asked by the BBB if they provided loans, the company representative denied any such business activity.

On February 7, 2008, BBB staff has verified with the Charleston Post Office that the address being given by this company is a residential address not a business adress. The BBB contacted the company to confirm the address and was informed that the address listed was correct, despite our findings.

Although the company's listed address suggest that the company is headquartered in the U.S. Similiar companies that operate in this manner are typically headquartered outside the U. S. and direct applicants to send the fees via Western Union money transfers payable to an individual, rather than a business. They ask applicants to use a Ëpassword codeÌ with their Western Union payment, which allows the scammers to hide their identity.

DonÊt pay for the promise of a loan. ItÊs illegal for companies doing business by phone in the U.S. to promise you a loan and ask you to pay for it before they deliver.
