In recent weeks, your BBB has received reports from local businesses who are receiving numerous phone calls from someone claiming to be a BBB representative. The supposed rep is asking multiple personal questions, with some businesses receiving up to four calls per day. Most calls are asking business owners and staff persons if the business is planning to move locations and requesting personal information to update BBB's records. The number that shows up on the call display is 882-014-0105 and each call can be from a different person.
Other BBB locations across North America have also received similar reports from businesses experiencing these kinds of calls. BBB is warning consumers and businesses to not give out personal information to these callers. Remember, your BBB will not request information over the phone unless your business is a BBB Accredited Business. If you are suspicious, contact us at 403-531-8784 or come visit us in person to ensure you are dealing with a legitimate BBB location and representative.
