Your BBB & Fraud Prevention Alberta Receive Proclamation from the City of Calgary Declaring March Fraud Prevention Month

March is Fraud Prevention Month in Canada. The BBB of Southern Alberta is part of Fraud Prevention Alberta, a group of law enforcement, government agencies and other community organizations who work to increase awareness of fraud during March. Partners include: Better Business Bureau, Service Alberta; Alberta Solicitor General and Public Security; Seniors and Community Supports; Alberta Securities Commission; Alberta Community Crime Prevention; Competition Bureau; Bank of Canada; Association of Certified Fraud Examiners; RCMP; Medicine Hat Police Service; Lethbridge Regional Police Service; Calgary Police Service; Edmonton Police Service; and Alberta Motor Association.

March is Fraud Prevention Month in Canada. In recognition of this, Mayor Nenshi and Calgary City Council has declared that March is Fraud Prevention Month in Calgary. To quote the declaration, “recognizing fraud is the first step to protecting yourself from being a victim”, followed by “realizing that it comes in many forms and targets all ages from all walks of life”. Fraud victims are urged to “Recognize it. Report it. Stop it.” so criminals can be held accountable and to prevent others from becoming victims. Informing yourself and learning about fraudulent schemes is still your best protection.
