HIRING A PLUMBER
The following message will provide general information when considering a plumbing company.
When considering a job, it is always good to obtain three written estimates. When comparing quotes consider comparing the cost the company is charging per hour, the services they are offering and their availability. Does the plumber charge for coming out to your home? If so, does that include distance and time? Does the plumber charge for time taken to find the part, or are the charges based on an hourly rate for labor done at the work site. Additional repairs which may arise should be put down in writing along with a description of the work that needs to be done, the cost of the part and time taken to do the repairs. If additional repairs are required and a part is not available will the company charge you extra for ordering it?
You may consider checking the individuals credentials to determine if they have the proper trade license. This can be done by calling the Provincial Apprenticeship Branch at 297-6457. Ask family and friends for referrals or the company for a list of references.
