If you're interested in hiring a professional carpet and rug cleaner to make your home as good as new, you'll want to hire a trustworthy business. Refer to these tips when searching for professional carpet and rug cleaning services.

Tips for Hiring a Carpet and Rug Cleaner:

Do Your Research.  Ask friends, family members and neighbors if they can suggest a carpet cleaner they have been satisfied with in the past. Check out carpet and rug cleaners at bbb.org to read reviews or complaints. Look at the business’ BBB rating and how they have responded to customer complaints.

Determine the Services You Need.  Carpet and rug cleaners can provide a variety of services including steam cleaning, dry cleaning, and carpet shampooing. A reliable carpet and rug cleaner will be able to tell you the services that are best suited for your carpet surfaces. Ask what services are considered “basic” and which ones are considered “extras”. Find out if the cleaning business charges a fee to move the furniture back to its original place after completing the services. Understand, in advance, the care required after cleaning, how long the carpets will take to dry, and if special ventilation needed.

Get Multiple Estimates.  Get a written estimate from multiple carpet cleaning businesses for the same service to compare pricing. Be sure the estimate includes the services being provided, the areas being cleaned, and the itemized cost. Don’t automatically choose the lowest price. Businesses that are charging an unusually low price could be hiding other fees or not performing quality carpet cleaning services.

Check for Insurance.  Be sure to get proof of insurance before any carpet cleaning business begins working in your home. Ask if the business carries personal liability and property damage insurance. Make sure every employee working in your home is bonded and insured. Understand who is responsible for the carpet and other furniture in the house if damage occurs during the cleaning.

Get Everything in Writing.  Be sure to get all the terms of the agreement in writing. Carefully review the contract before signing. If the business promises a satisfaction guarantee, make sure it’s included in the contract. The business owner should provide their name and number in case you have questions or concerns after inspecting the completed services.
