Complaint: I spoke to the owner and requested that my front windshield be reglued because it was badly leaking. I told the owner I had a brand new windshield put in my 1965 chevy impala around 8 years ago as well. He said he would take extra special care of my car. When the car was done on Friday, october 14, the owner called me when it was done and said that the windshield broke when removing it. He also told me that there were a few paint chips as a result of removing the top molding. I knew something was false when the owner took no accountability and said the moldings must have been on when the vehicle was painted. This was a day after I mentioned to him that the windows and moldings were removed when the vehicle was painted. It looks like someone was prying on the top of my winshield to get it to pop out. there are way to many paint chips above the top molding to just have it touched up. The owner charged me full price for the winshield and labor; and offered nothing to the paint damage done to my classic car. I left 2 messages and went back to the store in person; only speaking to his daughter michelle i believe. I cant afford to fix the damage to my paint, as it needs professional attention. I was honest and still paid my big bill of $ 258.00.
Desired Settlement: The owner should have met me halfway for breaking my winshield and for damaging the paint all along the top of my windshield. If not, I deserve to have my paint repaired.
In response to Mr ***** complaint .. we made him aware that there is and always is a chance of breaking the windshield when you are removing it to do any other work to the vehichle .. glass is unpredictable and we always make the customer aware of that possiblity. As far as damaging the paint work ... my auto glass tech came out and got me from my office to show me the area where the paint came off above the top moldings when he was removing them. He took alot of time and was very careful in removing them. My employees do not gain anything by lying to me or the customer. They are very upfront and honest . We have been in business since 1979 and pride ourselve on customer service. I aplogize i havent responded to this sooner , i have been out with my husband who has been in the hospital with heart issues.. or I would have gotten back to you much sooner on this issue. My father **** has reviewed this complaint and is willing to refund the customer half of the cost of the replacment of the new windshield , which is $130.00 , if that sounds fair to Mr.**** I will send him a check promptly. I apologize he feels the way he does but we never take advantage or are dishonest to our customers in any way. I just want to be clear that in no way are we taking fault in our workmanship in this issue , we are always up front with our customers and tell them what could happen and did so with this customer also. I apologize for any inconvience or ill feelings this has caused to Mr **** and hope we can continue a working relationship with him in the future.
