Super pathetic business practice. I called them to re-roof my barn. I already had the material due to another contractor walking out due to lack of employees. Horch said they would not do the job unless they purchased the materials. I have all the exact materials needed to do the job and are the finest available new in box. The only reason they would turn this down is because they can't up-charge the materials.Wouldn't recommend a company with that kind of work ethic.

In the brief phone conversation, we explained that our schedule is booked quite a ways out and our responsibility is to our existing customers. We also explained that we usually do not take on jobs where the owners source the materials independently. The reasons are as follows: 1. We measure and estimate all jobs with a site visit and work with the homeowner to decide what roof system is best for our customers. This allows us to provide our crews with an accurate material list, scope of work and allows us to give our customers a contract price. If materials are pre-provided and come up short or inappropriate for the job, that becomes an issue as we then have to stop and source additional materials which can extend the job, add unexpected costs for the homeowner, and may not match the existing materials. 2. We have a strong standing relationship with our vendors and the shingle manufacturing representatives. The truth is not all shingles manufacturers or vendors are alike and when we source our materials directly we can be assured we have quality materials backed by the manufacturer and can give our customers the best warranty.3. Horch Roofing provides a 5-year warranty on our roofing work in addition to the shingle manufacturer's warranty. The only way to be sure we've done our best for our customers is to make sure the job is done right and that starts with sourcing quality materials and having the best warranty possible provided to us and our homeowners.
