Complaint: Far about 1 1/2 to 2 years ATNT did some excellent work at my house. From time to time he would ask me for cash to get materials- I gave it to him. Then suddenly he and his crew stopped working here. He was left to put windows dowstairs and 2 upstairs. So he has $1300.00 of my money and I have no windows + he has my money. They have not answered their phone all this time. I am on disability and I would like my money back. the cash would really help rigght now I hope you can help me with this matter.

Desired Settlement: my money back I don't have much money left to pay on my mortgage- I will have to go up for foreclosure Please help me!

Complaint: Last summer (July 2012), ATNT built a new deck at my house using pressure treated lumber and galvanized nails. There were no issues during the actual construction and the crew completed the deck within a couple weeks. However, when I started to use the deck this spring (April 2013) I noticed that gaps had formed between some of the decking boards including a very large one inch gap in the center. One particular decking board is a potential safety issue because is was cut too short and was not properly secured onto the joist and sinks down when weight is put on it. Additionally, some of the decking boards have started to bow, warp, or creek because they were not properly nailed down. Nine months is far too soon to be having so many problems with a brand new deck. On May 4, 2013, I called the owner of ATNT, whom I dealt with the entire time during the deck construction. I explained the issues to him and he agreed to come over and take a look at it and fix if possible. He ended the conversation saying he would call me back in the near future to let me know when he would be by the house. After not hearing back from him for 2 weeks since the first phone call, I called him back and we spoke on May 18. He again said he would come by the house within a week or two since he had work scheduled in our area. After not hearing from or seeing him for another 11 days, I left a voicemail on May 23 but never heard back. I left another voicemail on May 29 but again did not hear back. On 6/4/13 I called and spoke to the owner again for the 3rd time and got the same story "I have a job your area and will come by in a few days". Well once again, he was a no show. On July 12th I decided to text message him and also included a photo showing him one of the large gaps in the deck. I mentioned in the text that I have been waiting over 2 months for him to fix the deck and if I did not hear back within one week I was going to file a complaint with the BBB. He immediately responded to my text by texting back apologizing for not coming by. He also wrote that he would see if one of his guys could come by. I was really hoping that finally the deck would be fixed. As of today (July 19) still no action has been taken on his end. I paid a lot of money for the new deck and feel that they should guarantee their work and also stand behind their word after promising to look at and fix the problem. Instead I keep getting the run around. Unfortunately I will just have to fix the deck myself now.

Desired Settlement: I was hoping for a repair and to not have to write a complaint but now I will have to fix myself. This complaint is for informational purposes in hopes that this does not happen to future customers. They obviously did not care about following through on the repairs or at least coming to look at the issue after saying they would. Since ATNT is located in the next town over, it was not asking for a lot. I gave them multiple opportunities and 10 weeks to make good on the repair but finally realized that they either never intended to make the repair or that it was not a priority. I don't wish any ill will towards ATNT but ultimately their finished product in this instance was subpar and they failed to respond after saying that they would follow up with a repair. Some better communication and follow through could have made a big difference.

Business Response: I built deck for them in 8 months ago. This is pressured treated wood and this is a very large deck that is in the sun all day. That is a lot of sun for pressure treated wood. We nail butt joints together with nails to outside to deck and go down the end nice and neat. There was no gap at the get go. Sometimes you will get a piece of wood that will do that.This issue was with one board that had a gap with that had shrunk (that you could stick you finger in). It is my fault that I could not come right out because I had cut off one my fingers and I could not get out to work for a long time. Then he texted me and I told him what I would have to do to fix this. My two guys were out on vacation for a while so I had nobody to help me. Finally I got my son to go over and help me with this. when I got there his wife, who was really a nice person, showed me that he had already done the work based on what I had showed him what we were going to do on the text I sent him. then he filed a complaint

Consumer Response: I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response moderately satisfies my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint. 

I am not totally clear on why it took over 10 weeks to take action.  There was also an inaccurate statement in the reply by A TNT saying that the complaint was filed after they came to the house to offer to fix the deck.  In reality, the complaint was filed on 7/20/13, but they came to the house on 7/23/13.  Not sure if they received the complaint notification after coming to the house, but I was at least happy that the effort was made to make the repairs.  Going forward this matter should not require any additional attention.
