Additional Notes

Complaint: I called SWAT, got an estimate, asked that they add in the warranty that they guarantee to get level under 4. they agreed to add that in. Now that I have the system , I am getting a test at a 7.1 . They wont fix it, I need to buy a $195 part because i "opted out of the super fan", I had no clue that the under 4 level was contingent on a super fan, no one told me that and I relly tried to do my homework on this. I wanted to avoid needing addiotional upgrades so I tried to nip it in the bud as a part of the sale. Nope, levels are still over 4 and Swat wont do anything unless I pay up.

Desired Settlement: I just want the levels to be under 4 as promised.

Business Response: There was clearly a miscommunication between a sales representative and this customer, which I apologize for.  We warranty our work to attain radon levels < 3.9 pCi/L and will always respond to and fix situations where that level is not met.  This issue has been addressed with the call center representative and will not happen again.

BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved

Additional Notes

Complaint: This company came out and installed a radon mitigation system in my basement. 2 weeks after being installed it stopped working. They made another appointment to send a technician out and that person arrived 4 hours before the scheduled timeframe. They then put a whole new fan system in. However, when they left the fan was still not working so they said there must be a blown fuse. Upon further investigation there was no blown fuse, but really bad wiring done by the original installer from the company. My husband had to fix this. We were making the payment in 2 installments. We made the first adn were told we had 30 days to make the rest. They ended up charging our account 2 weeks later, without our permission. Then yesterday we get a bill in the mail for them having to come out and "fix" the system after it stopped working 2 weeks after installation.

Desired Settlement: I would like for people to know what this company is capable of. I will also not be paying an additional fee for them not installing the equipment properly.

Business Response: We operate out of Sudbury Mass, this was not our customer she would need contact SWAt in Pa.  800-No Radon

Additional Notes

Complaint: On Friday,December 28, 2012, at aproximately 12:30 pm, my father: ***** ** ******, of ** ******* St., ********, MA, made an appointment, via telephone, with Air Quality Control Agency to come to his home the next day, Sat, December 29, to install a radon mitigation system. -- "*****" - 1-800-667-2366, x ***, took our information. At approximately 4:50 pm. on Friday, December 28, I called Air Quality Control Agency, on my father's behalf, to cancel this appointment. I spoke with ***** and let him know to please cancel his technician, because my father had contracted with another agency (one that is local and my father, who is ** years old, is more comfortable with). ***** was polite and thanked me for the call.Today my father received a call from Air Quality Control (from "******") who let my father know that a technician would be enroute. When my father explained that this appointment had been canceled the day before (only a few hours after it was made), ****** told my father that he would be responsible for a $195.00 canceelation fee - even though no one came to the home and even though the appointment was canceled.I telephoned to speak with *****, who was unavailable. "*******" let me knwow that my dad would be billed the $195 because there was less than 24 hour notice of cancelation. I explained that the appt. itself was canceled in less than 5 hours of being placed. I also let him know that nothing was signed. He insisted that my **-year old dad would still be liable for $195. I let him know that my dad would NOT be paying this fee.

Desired Settlement: I would like the BBB to intervene regarding this dubious billing by Air Quality Control Agency.

Business Response: The cancellation fee has been waived.

BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
