Horrible experience. Do NOT recommend! Called for no heat, took em 4 days to get here and was told my less than ten year old gas fired steam boiler was done and I needed a new one at a cost of $16,000. Then they presented me with a bill for over $2,500 in needed repairs so I figured, a lot less than a new boiler so i authorized the repairs and had to immediately make a $1,000 deposit against the bill of over $2,500. No heat, day 2: they send a new repair guy who actually seems to know what he is doing. He spends 5-6 hours removing buildup of soot and tells me the gas pressure was set too high so running too rich. He finishes up by installing a new thermostat and leaves: heat at last! But no heat. Third day the third tag team member, the 'comfort advisor comes out and presents me with an estimate of over $17,000 for a new steam boiler with a $1,700 credit for the prior 'repairs' oddly ending up with the same previously quoted price of $16,000.I defer and tell em I am not pleased at all and will seek another opinion: his retort: you may have to deal with asbestos and have a new flue in the chimney. But he can recommended companies to do the work.I call my son and get his heating and plumbing Absolute Precision from Middleton. One day and $1,500 later my 'broken' steam boiler is running great!!Turns out the 128 guy didn't remove a panel to expose the area which needed cleaning (and is part of the normal cleaning process) because a bolt was cross threaded. Well the only maintenance and cleaning done on this boiler since new was done three years ago by...................................128 Plumbing and Heating!Review from david m

Plumbing. I notice wet spot near toilet. So I contact them. The receptionist is kind and the technician is punctual. The office told me the hourly work is 150 an hour. So when technician quoted me 566 .60 , I asked why not charge work based on the hourly rate I was told by the office. I got the answer he charge based on the project. And the project is to take out the toilet and take a peak at the ****** and replace the wax ring which took about one hour. So for the one hour work, I ended up paying almost 600 dollars. I gave 3 stars for technician clean job and politeness. I take two stars away from it because I think it is way too much. .. I prefer other seniors be aware of what will happen to them as well...Review from Charles K

This is an additional input to our first review posted 6/30/22. Subsequent to the shower set install some minor adjustment was needed and promptly serviced. The service person went out of his way to provide a satisfactory finish leaving us very pleased. In retrospect we give the overall work done and prompt service an excellent rating. ******* and ***Review from GRETCHEN P

I had a horrible experience with 128 who did a free sewer pipe inspection Oct 2021, discovered the 100 yr old pipes crumbling & in need of replacement. They dug a trench w jackhammers replaced pipe, then poured concrete, in a sloppy manner leaving cracks, uneven surface, an uncovered section. I was told that my basement would be as it was if not better, & ****** the lead technician said it would look as though they'd never been there. Also, a storm door was moved and damaged & needed to be replaced. I found rubber work gloves, empty water **************** in the basement. I paid in full upon completion of the job & called to report the mess in my basement & poor cement job. 128 sent their head plumbing tech who said that "this is one of the worst cement jobs I've ever seen..." & apologized to me & said they'd fix this. In Jan 2022, 128 re-poured the cement which involved digging up the basement again with jackhammers. The cement is smooth, looks better but during this job, the wooden fence to back yard was damaged and the ************ broken - the lead tech denied responsibility & said that it must have been the flooring guys who damaged my fence. In late Dec 2021, I called 128 to look at my heat pumps which stopped. My minisplits are <7 yrs old & under warranty. The tech came out checked the system, informed me that it needed to be replaced, said I had an inferior brand & poor installation. He gave me a quote of $15-20k to replace. I got 2d opinion from another company who paid a visit free of charge- said system looked good - sent his lead tech, who found the condenser power switch was off- he turned it on & the whole system started working. The pressure was a little low-he added some freon, tested minisplits, all working well. 128 told me system needed replacement for $15-20k & another company found system in good shape. I dont know if this is gross incompetence or unethical business practices/fraud. I had to hire crew to clean up mess left by 128 in my basementReview from LS

They wanted $1,926 to replace a toilet. I would be proving the toilet, so the asking price is just for labor. It takes approximately one hour and 30 minutes to replace a toilet. So, basically, they charge $965 per hour. No plumber is worth that kind of money. Also, the price is not given to you unless you pay for someone to come to your place and look at the toilet. Yes, you have to pay to be told that the job will cost you $1,926. Any other plumbing company will tell you upfront about the hourly rate, not 128 Plumbing.
