Complaint: my wife ****** & I stayed at the comfort in in southe portland me on 09/06/2013 for one night,that were i picked up a brocher for choice privileges take two seperate trips earn one night free at over 1,500 hotels.i than called when we got home to join choice privileges & got member id ********.at this time i mad reservation for a trip to ny in rome ny at the quality inn 09/25/2013 & again 09/28/2013 for my free night stay.when i got to hotel i asked the clerk at the fromt desk about our free stay he told me he had nothing to do with that ,that was corperate.i the put it on my credit card had no choice.when i got home i called choice privileges to get it straight out all i get is a run around .for three stays thay told me that i have 8,900 points toward a free stay that needs 16,000 at most hotels.i then asked them were coul i stay in nh or me for a free night they said that they have nothing.i then saiid to them you mean if i stayed at th comfprt in in south portland me two seprtate stays that i would not get a free nights stay at that hotel he said that right.i then said to him why do they have the flyers at that hotel take two trip earn a free stay.he just said i sorry about that.i then told him that if i would have known that that i would not have stayed at their hotels.what a scam this is.they keep sending me emails that i have a free night stay when i call they say i do not.iam ******. **** *********

Desired Settlement: i want what is coming to me & my wife a free night or money back from our second night in rome ny which i should not have had to pay.

Thank you for inquiring and expressing your dissatisfaction with our points program promotions advertising.  That is a great question.  To go to the horses mouth, so to speak and get all of the important details of your account and the ins and outs of the points program, please call Choice Privileges at 1-888-770-6800.  They will discuss with you all of your options.  Also, the more you stay at Choice Hotels, the more points that are going to add up in your account.  I can tell you that points for hotels range between 8000 - 20000 points for a free stay.  This will fluctuate with seasons, and destinations.  I feel the better informed you are, the more you can enjoy the benefit.

Complaint: I stayed here for one night (night of 12/31/2011) in room *** and was accompanied by two other next door in room *** for our trip. Myself and my girlfriend were in *** and both are nonsmokers, while the other two are smokers. I am being charged a free of 250 for a "cleaning" of "room ***" where they say it smelled of smoke. It is a false and incompletely true statement as NO smoking occured in this room and NO ONE in the room smokes. My girlfriend cannot be around it and even did a ********* treatment, for her ****** in this room. This is a completely fictional charge that is being charged to me, because "the guest from *** reserved both rooms but paid his room in cash" and mine I paid by card. His card used to reserve has NO balance on it and DENIED when we checked in, so they just wanted there money and charged me. I would like to see where they have a valid reason for this occurence in *** other than their story of "it smelled like smoke." Where their ashes, burns, etc? Did any of that exist in room ***? This hotel is filled with crooks and liars that are engaging in illegal business practices.

Desired Settlement: A refund of the charged $250

Our hotel makes every effort to advertise the fact that it is a smoke free facility.  There are signs on every entrance door stating that our hotel is smoke free.  You also signed the registration card at check in and initialed the smoke recovery fee policy.  Your room, not your friend’s room was smoked in heavily.  We followed protocol for deep cleaning and charging the recovery fee.  We take this very seriously as our rooms are our largest asset.  The charge is correct and is for the correct room.
