In the U.S., where the company has operated since 1895, Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada offers a wide array of insurance products to individuals and businesses, including group and individual life insurance, and group disability and medical stop-loss insurance.

The company was established in Michigan in 1895 and incorporated in Canada in 1871. The United States headquarters opened in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts in 1973. The company employs 1,800 people in the United States and 11,000 worldwide.
