Textile Analysis Service Through Better Business Bureau
There may be times when you are not satisfied with the way your clothing comes back from the drycleaners. If a garment comes back from the drycleaners damaged, you may choose to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
If during the complaint process there is disagreement about who is responsible for the damage, you may request a garment analysis by the Drycleaning and Laundry Institute (DLI) Textile Analysis Laboratory. This service is offered to consumers. If the drycleaner is a member of the DLI, you must request this service through the drycleaner. The testing of the clothing is free; however, you must pay the cost of shipping and insurance.
In order for Better Business Bureau to process the request, we require that the consumer release Better Business Bureau of any liability related to the analysis of the garment. The consumer must also provide a description of the garment and the damage. The consumer can either send or drop off the garment to Better Business Bureau along with the required documentation. BBB will then contact the DLI and arrange for the testing.
The DLI’s Textile Analysis Laboratory will test the garment, using a combination of methods, to determine what caused the problem. After all the necessary tests are complete and a reasonable conclusion is reached, the DLI will send BBB a report stating its findings. A copy of the report is provided to the consumer and may be used to settle the dispute between the drycleaner and the consumer. BBB will make arrangements with the consumer to have the garment returned. For further information about this service please contact your Better Business Bureau at info@bosbbb.org or 508-652-4800.
