Additional Notes

Complaint: Beacon Shipping Logistics with rep **** promised us to deliver a boat from FL to IL.First he lied that boat will be taken in flatbead or semitruck. Later we found out that boat bearrings failed in TN and that it was pulled out. Finally
we found out that Beacon only proceed as a broker and another company was shipping our boat.**** from Beacon did not solve any problems that occured during the boat delivery and the boat itself was delivered only after 20 days.**** took off as first problems occured with the shipping company. We had to deal with them ourselves.Boat was damaged during shipping,we had to pay extra of marine charges.the shipping company were unreacheable, lied, did not provide supporting docs from marine, and etc.we were very disapointed with Beacon Shipping Logistics work.

Desired Settlement: we want $1,200 for Marine bill because the boat had to be delivered on flatbead and never fail during the shipment. Also, $1000 for bimini boat top that was damaged during the shipping.

Business Response: June 28, 2012

****,
I wanted to respond to the letter received yesterday. Mr. ******** was never lied to by me or anyone from my company. It was explained to him that there were two options on delivering the boat from Tampa, Fl to ****** ****, IL. The first was less expensive and the one he chose. His other option was to have a trailer placed on top of what is called a step deck or a "low boy" trailer. The reason I suggested the more expensive option is because of exactly what happened to them. There were axle and bearing issues with the trailer during this trip. The trip depending upon the path you take is basically around 1200 miles. I took many calls from Mrs. ******** over a two or three day period called to try to convince me that we would be responsible for the cost associated with their boat trailer. She wasn't really happy to hear that I wouldn't be footing the bill to pay for something that was neither mine nor the trucking companies fault, and something I tried to talk her husband out of doing in the first place. The truck was obviously delayed in getting to it's destination due to waiting for the part for the ********'s trailer. To my knowledge at no point did the trucker asked to be compensated for his time or lodging as he waited days for the part to come in. If this was the case, in my humble opinion it was worth noting. All that was asked for was his payment for delivery and a reimbursement for the repairs done to the trailer to make the boat delivery complete. As a small business owner in this time of e-commerce when it's so easy to sully the name of anybody on a personal or professional level I hope that I have cleared up any questions you have. Feel free to call or email with
any other questions that may come up.

Respectfully,

Consumer Response: I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint.

**** never explained any options to me, he just called back with the price. I also asked if I need any fortlifter to take the boat with the trailer and **** responded that not because it is a low deck. **** please read some reviews online about the company with whom you are working it will low your company ratings as working with this shipper SW Florida Transporter also. Next, why nobody called us asking what we would like to do with the trailer if the bearings failed. Maybe we were willing to take our trailer with the towing and fix the bearings in Chicago. We were happy to pay half way to TN were the bearings failed. The shipper said that he notified us that the bearings will not make 1300 miles to Chicago. We never spoke with the shipper about ebarings before the trip.Second, shipper was hidding the Marine coordinates from us and never show the Marine bill. I called Marine afterwards the shipper issued the invoice and the Marine never heard of this shipper or his owner, or our trailer. So why we do have to pay any bills for Marine that we do not see any supporting docs. If you telling the way it was please present the Marine bill to us. Our boat never was in this Marine and my guess is our boat left the FL only on Sunday or Monday the June 18 and arrived to Chicago on June 20 morning. I just recently was contacted by other person who had his boat delivery after ours and having the same problems with the shipper. ****,you say it took longer..it took more than a month. The shipper did not answer his phone with the  status, he text me after a week trying to reach him that he did not have any drivers because of father's day on Sunday. That's the way business is done???? I told you do some reaserch on the companies that you do business with. This shipper stole the propeller from other boat, he charged most of his clients over 1K more at the time of delivery. Read the review on rippoffreport on June 8, after this hour boat delivery, and next person who just recently contacted me and want to file a claim with the court because this shipper charging over 1K again. You are not responsible, as soon as problems appeared you took off. You was the one who had to deal with the shipper and notify us in every step, but as soon as you noticed that ** from SW Florida TRansporter is not communicating with you, you gave his phone number to us. What do we pay you for? That you leave us alone to deal with this INSANE ** *****?  Thanks!

BBB's Final Determination: After reviewing the position of all parties, BBB determined that the business made a reasonable effort to address the complaint. However the consumer remains dissatisfied.
