Complaint: I ordered a product from the company. It arrived much later than expected. On opening the package the item was damaged. The company is refusing to warrantee their product. The stated rationale was that they were unable to blame it on the shipping company when it was clearly damaged on original packing as the external package has no damage to support any claim against the shipping company. They refused to honor their commitment to deliver a suitable product. They wouldn't honor the warranty if they couldn't get the shipping company to pay for the product cost and so they were not able to provide any reasonable remedy for my situation. The company representative offered to sell me another item at a 10% discount. This is unacceptable. It's bad business. Certainly not worthy of an A+ rating by the BBB.

Desired Settlement: I would like the item replaced with an undamaged item as originally ordered.

Business Response: Dear Sir.I recognize and appreciate your position, however the product was delivered on 3/21.  The damage was not reported until 4/18.  Unfortunately, even if you had purchased our delivery insurance, which would have covered you for instances like this, it would have been outside of the 21 Day time frame.   If you decide to purchase a replacement item, please contact me directly at and I'll see what I can do to offer a larger discount.Kind regards*****

Complaint: I ordered a bulletin board from this company, and it was delivered while I was out of town. The morning I got back in town, I opened the box to discover that the item was damaged (the box looked fine). One of the corners of the board was completely bent. Upon further inspection, there is not even BOARD in that corner. It's all fabric. They literally cut corners when making this item. I immediately called customer service, and they said because it had been more than 48 hours after delivery and I "chose to ignore the delivery inspection instructions", there was nothing they could do for me. After multiple emails back and forth with a customer service supervisor, they said I could buy another board at a discounted price but they would not refund me or send me a new product at their expense. I would have to spend more money to get the product I expected. Their customer service was terribly unhelpful and clearly doesn't stand behind their product or care about customer service. They lost way more in future business than the $100 it would have cost them to send me a refund or replacement board. I am shocked that a company like this can be in business.

Desired Settlement: I would like to send this item back and be issued a full refund.

Business Response: Thank you for your note.  I am very familiar with this particular order.  Ms. ***** was not very nice to the staff here at US Markerboard, all the while they kept their composure and professionalism.  I know, I sit right off the call center floor.  In a nutshell, the product was delivered while no one was at home.  It was quite a few days after the product was received that Ms ***** notified us of the damage to her product.  At US Markerboard, we follow industry standard, and the delivery carriers are becoming much less considerate of the time delays from delivery to the date of notification of damage.  We, however, do offer added protection in the form of delivery insurance which we offer to customers at the time of order, which provide for added protection specifically designed for cases like this.  While I do appreciate Ms. *****'s issue, there is only two resolution options available.  First, she can file a claim directly with the carrier.  Second, we can work with Ms. ***** and provide her a discount off a replacement product.  While I do realize these are not favorable options for her, it is all I am able to offer her.Thank you again for your note.  Kind regards***** ******President

Consumer Response: Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below.  Good for you for standing behind your employees, but shame on you for not standing behind your product and supporting your customers.  I apologize if I wasn't "nice" to your staff after receiving NO offers of help with this matter other than saying there was nothing they could do.  It was only after I raised my concern another level that I was even offered a discount on a replacement product, an additional slap in the face in my opinion to ask me to spend more money on something I've already paid for once.  Also, the product wasn't delivered while nobody was "home".  People don't live at my office building.  It was left there with nobody from my team taking possession of it.  Furthermore, you are still missing the point.  The shipping company didn't damage your product.  You SENT a damaged product.  I personally wrote you as the president of your company and got no response.  It is appalling to me that this is how you run your business. Please add your rejection comments below.  Well that's not shocking, but seeing as you did not personally make this board, your comments are irrelevant as to the possibility of its defectiveness.  I am clearly not the first customer who has had an issue with it either.  How can you not stand by my comments of a defective board when I have a picture of the defective board as it was received?  Please tell me how that is rational.  Further proof of not standing behind your product. The "corner" is bendable and all fabric.   I again reject your offer to spend more money to get a product I've already paid for once.  I could maybe understand if I was trying to send back thousands of dollars worth of product, but we're talking about $100 here.  Is your company ****** in that poor of shape that you aren't willing to make that right??  Again, I want to send this product back and receive a full refund.    I would like to add to my last response to the business involved in my complaint.  He said the package was signed for.  I would like to know who signed for it.Regards,********* *****

Complaint: Whiteboard was defective. Trim was severely bent and damaged on one edge. Actual face of whiteboard had deep 5 inch long gauge. Called customer service and they refused to replace the damaged part. Shipping container had no visible damage, yet they blamed shipping. Will not refund or replace my order.

Desired Settlement: Refund my order and shipping costs.

Business Response: Hello.  I believe that ***** ******** has conversed with you about the replacement and a new board is being shipped out to you at no cost.  Upon receipt we kindly ask that you review the product and if there is no visible damage to the box, open the box within 24 hours and notify us of any internal damage.

Complaint: I purchased a markerboard from this company. When the shipment was received, it was placed in storage---in the shipping crate---awaiting the completion of construction so we could install the board. 31 days later we opened the crate and discovered the product was damaged. 34 days after receipt of the product we contacted the company and they said we had discovered the damage "too late" and they would not refund our money or replace the product.

Desired Settlement: Either refund my money, or ship me the product I ordered in good condition.

I have reviewed the order as well as the notes behind the delivery and here are the details.
An order for a custom made whiteboard was ordered on March 5, 2015.  On March 10th the order was shipped from the factory in NY to your location in Missouri.  The board was delivered by YRC on March 16, 2015, and signed for by Mr. **** ******** in clear condition, therefore visually inspected at that time for any noticeable damage.  The product was not opened for the next 31 days.  During that time we have knowledge as to how the product was stored or managed.  We have no ability to determine why, how or when the board got damaged.  And, even if you had purchased the delivery insurance, it would have only covered you for the first 21 days after delivery.  Unfortunately the only thing I am able to do is give you a discount on a subsequent order.

Please advise if you would like to consider placing a subsequent order at a one time discounted rate.
