Complaint: on friday august 30th, i visited the cabby shack with a group of friends to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. upon arriving at the establishment, i presented my massachusetts identification card as proof that i am 21 years old. the bouncer refused to accept this card even after being informed of the law change effective october 2012 which made a massachusetts identification card one of the acceptable forms of identification for the purchase of alcohol. after speaking with the manager, she informed me again that because i did not have a drivers license i would not be able to gain entry to the establishment. i again informed her of the change to the law effective october 2012 that made the massachusetts id card an acceptable for of id and yet she still denied my entry. http://www.mass.gov/anf/employment-equal-access-disability/oversight-agencies/mod/id-bill.html this is evidence of the law change
Desired Settlement: i would simply like the business to be informed of the change to the law so that others will not suffer the same embarassment as i did. i would also like a formal apology from the company admitting their negligence to the law change.
Business Response: We did make a decision that was best for our business. We are very aware of the Law and again we did what was best for our business concerning the guest.
Consumer Response: I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint.
BBB's Final Determination: After reviewing the position of all parties, BBB determined that the business made a reasonable effort to address the complaint. However the consumer remains dissatisfied.
