Complaint: I had gone to this restaurant for dinner with my wife along with my 9 month old kid. We were presented with a bill with had a Automatic Gratuity of 18%. The menu clearly advertised that the automatic gratuity is charged only if the guests are more than 6. When I questioned the Automatic Gratuity, I was told that they just introduced this for all guests irrespective of number, about 2-3 days ago. This was not advertised anywhere or published where we could read or take notice before we ordered our food. We were just told "Talk to Manager". This is just plain unfair and unprofessional of the restaurant. -******

Desired Settlement: I just want to get this to the notice of the public for their enlightenment so that other patrons do not get swindled by this.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review Apna Punjab.  As you probably know, our restaurant is still very new (been open almost four months now).  Going into this business we knew we had a very good product to provide customers with.  As you kindly mentioned in your Yelp review, we put a lot of love and effort into producing the best and freshest food in a region where such cuisine is not readily found.

However, while we know our product is ready for the public, we are finding that staffing is having a learning curve.  Our policy is NOT to include gratuity in each of our coupon bills. It is applicable to those using Restaurant.com certificates and is plainly stated as such on the print out.  I appologize that our server misunderstood this to be a universal with discounted meals.  As you put it in your write up, our policy is groups of six or more have an automatic gratuity added.  I am happy that you brought this to our attention as I was able to set the server straight and he will not be making this mistake with other patrons.  I hope that you will find it reasonable to give us another try in the future.  I also ask that you reconsider raising your rating of our restaurant to at least three stars based upon the hard work of the people in the back of the house who provided you the food that you thought was so delicious.  A one-star rating reflects poorly upon them even when your ambition is to strongly object to the service.
