Complaint: Received a quote in writing outlining the terms of a driveway replacement to be done. As stated in the quote from Ruck paving, they were to remove and dispose of old asphalt and base material. The removal of the base was to be a depth of 12 inches with fabric barrier and replaced with 12 inches of packed reclaim or gravel followed by 3 inches of 3/8 finish asphalt. In some areas of the driveway Ruck paving went down as little as 4 inches coming no way near the the agreed upon 12 inches. After questioning Mr. Ruck on this he on two different occasions used explictives toward me and said he would correct the problem after a short lunch break. Upon returning from his lunch break he packed up his equipment and left the job unfinished. I currently have no asphalt on my driveway and because of the season being so late I may no be able to find somebody to complete the job to which im sure he is aware. The level of professionalism is beneath contemp. Very frustrated and dissapointed.
Desired Settlement: Finish the job to the specifications agreed upon in the quote.
Business Response: I will not work for ******* son. he showed up on the job accusing us of taking advantage of his father. we do not operate business like that. weve had a A+ rating for years with the BBB. this is actually the first complaint since ive been a member.when we tried to work it out on sight it was like talking to a little child. nothing anyone said made any sense to the son. myself and a crew member explained he was getting what we spoke about. it might of not been exactly 12" deep every square inch of the driveway but it was very close.this is the type of guy that would of complained when it was all done no matter what.I also have some friends in the same businees that spoke with this gentleman and refused to work for him just from speaking to him on the phone. very arrogant person from columbia university with to much of a brain. he should stick to what he knows how to do, not driveways. these people had one of the best companies in the area trying to get the job done for them until the son showed up. i was gonna complete and work with him after lunch until i got back and my crew members told me he kind of verbally attacked them while they eating there lunch in the truck saying i cant believe you guys were gonna take advantage of an old man. thats when i decided to leave. I had time invested into job and charged $0 dollars. i tried to make a courtesy call to george the homeowner and the son picked up the phone and said this will be the worst mistake of my life leaving his fathers job. " HE KNOWS ALOT OF PEOPLE" is what he told me. who would want to work for a person like that. no thank you. I made a smart decision by living and letting somebody else finish. Sorry to you ****** and your wife. *** Ruck
