8/17/2016 On 6/26/15 a sales person came to our door and we signed to have our existing tub converted to a walk in shower. At that time, I made it clear to the sales person that the work could not be done until I received approval from the **. Then and ONLY THEN could the job be done. She assured me it was fine and that if I gave a "down payment" it would be just to get the paperwork started, so that when we were approved the work could begin. To shorten things, I found out that, the ** has it's own time table and so months had gone by, during which, either the finance person, Maureen would call me, or I would call her, to let her know where things stood and that I still wanted them to do the job. During this time, every time I would try to expedite things with the **, I would not be able to speak to a live person and they would sent me the same paperwork to fill out and notarize again. By November, we had reason to change our home phone number and I immediately called Maureen and gave her the new number. More time passed and in February, the ** sent me another packet of the same paperwork to fill out and I was done!! I called Maureen and said we were denied and couldn't have the work done. Oddly, the same day, an agent from the ** called to ask why the work wasn't done, because time was running out to have it covered. I related my call to Maureen and my frustration with the whole thing and he said he would call her. She related to him that she had been trying to reach me, with no response, for quite a while and they were about to start legal actions. Since I had always returned her calls, and I had not received ANY calls or messages OR emails from her, I knew she must still be calling the old phone number. She had my email address from day one, but never used it. All parties on the same page now. Job boss comes out to re-measure tub first week of May. It would take a week to get all the materials. He would call me. After two weeks, called him and left a message. No answer. Called again the following Monday. Called again the 31st and we have a start date of June 2nd. By the way, the job boss said he had tried to call me a few times, but the number he was given was wrong. Guess he was given the old number also. The crew shows up on the 2nd, start to work hammering out the old tub. Uh-oh! The shower base is the wrong one. The drain opening is on the wrong side. So our given options are to let them re-route the pipes, or wait six weeks for a new base. We didn't wait. The toilet was to be replaced also, but they didn't come with one, so the job boss had to go out and buy one. My husband had previously put an oak frame around the tub area, the new base was 2 inches wider than the existing tub so the frame had to be bumped out to accommodate it. The existing frame was stained dark brown, the carpenter didn't stain the new wood the same color, but said it would darken over time. I don't understand why a darker stain couldn't be applied. So the wood frame is two different colors, the long side pieces of the frame are not flush with the old and new wood and some "filler" was put down the side in attempt to even it out, which it did not. There is almost a quarter inch difference. Last but not least, the final day, the carpenter came downstairs with the material list in hand, stood in the open door as though giving the list a final mental check off and handing it to me, said they were done and did I have any questions. I couldn't think what questions I could have and they packed up and headed down the street. I went upstairs to see my new shower and noticed immediately that the decorative trim (which was on the list he was double checking) had not been installed. Since I could not catch them, I called the job boss and had to leave a message. When he returned my call, I was told he would have to order the trim and that would take another week. When it did come in, the job boss had to come install it and he related that the carpenter had ruined the original trim and that's why he had to order another . So I guess the carpenter was just going to leave things as they were, not say a word and we would pay for the unfinished job. RI Home Improvement is not what they should be. It is definitely not an $8000 job! They are unorganized, and unprofessional. No, I would not recommend them to anyone.

8/8/2016 The job I contracted for was a siding job. The salesman said it would start by the first of Nov. 2015 and be completed by Thanksgiving. It never started until after New Years 2016. I made all the payments agreed on in the contract, but didn't get the satisfaction of a prompt start and finish for the job. The foreman for the 2 people that were doing the work was very good at making excuses for the company.
