With plenty of time before my friend's birthday, I was happy to see that chocolate.com allows you to choose a delivery date in the future so that the chocolates don't arrive too soon. When I placed the order, I received a UPS tracking number, and all seemed well. The day before the expected delivery, I tracked my shipment and found that only a label had been created - nothing had been shipped yet. Unfortunately, it was a holiday and no one was able to help.
The next day (the day of expected delivery), I received an automated email from chocolate.com com informing me that my delivery was delayed, without reason or expected delivery date. I called their customer service number, and there was a message instructing me to email instead. So I submitted a support request ticket in the mornig (the website said average turnaround time was 18 minutes), and I didn't receive a response all day. It's the weekend now, and so I will have to wait until Monday to attempt a resolution.
I called the chocolate shop that was fulfilling the order, and they were a dream. They hadn't received the order from chocolate.com (and mentioned that it wasn't the first time), and went above and beyond to provide my friend with the chocolates as soon as possible.
In the future, I will work directly with the chocolate shops and not go through chocolate.com. I was very disappointed and don't recommend this service, especially if you want the chocolates to be delivered on a special day.
