Complaint: This business has been proven (with DNA testing done for their sushi products) to sell low quality fish (escolar, which is also known as "the ex-lax of fish") labeled as higher quality fish (such as "white tuna" or "atlantic cod"). I have shopped here before and feel ripped off. You can read more about it, here: http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/2012/12/01/dnasidebar/maoPlTvCRdnKmzKdmhHxpO/story.html
Desired Settlement: I would like an apology from the owner of the restaurant for defrauding me of my hard-earned money, and putting me in harm's way by feeding me something other than what I purchased.
Every restaurants in MA calls Escola as "white tuna" or "Super White Tuna". Every customer calls & place order Escola as "white tuna". I agree that it's misleading, but unfortunately that is how everyone is used to it. In fact, there is no such a thing as "white Tuna". The closet one is albacore tuna & it's meat color is pink.
Consumer Response: I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint.
You just admitted to mislabeling your products as something that doesn't even exist. How is that an acceptable resolution? How about NOT defrauding your customers, by telling them what you are actually selling them? This is disgusting.
Here's the label attached. Again, we are open for your constructive suggestion. Thank you.
I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint.
My suggestion is to label the fish you are selling accurately. If there is no such thing as "white tuna", then why do you label "escolar" as "white tuna"? That's like selling water and calling it "unicorn tears".
BBB's Final Determination: After reviewing the position of all parties, BBB determined that the business made a reasonable effort to address the complaint. However the consumer remains dissatisfied.
