01/01/26/2012 The City of Boston, issued a press release "Mayor Menino Alerts Residents of Two Consumer Scams Reported Jan. 26th" In the release it states: "Mayor Menino’s office has also received multiple calls today from residents reporting that the company GE Security Systems, Versatile Marketing Solutions, Inc. of Warwick, RI is visiting the homes of Boston residents and saying that Mayor Menino and the city government is offering a free installation for a home security system. The company installs their system, and although they do not charge an “installation fee,” they collect social security and credit card information and sign up the resident for $49/month service charge for the system’s maintenance. The City of Boston and Mayor Menino do NOT have any relationship with this company and remind residents that they should not give out their personal information to anyone they do not know who calls or visits their home." http://www.cityofboston.gov/news/Default.aspx?id=5451

It was reported to BBB on 2/28/2012 that the business is using a recording of a conversation between VMS Alarms and BBB in regards to the business's complaints. BBB did not provide permission to VMS Alarms to record the call and/or use it for their purposes.
