Complaint: I was out in the yard summer of 2013 when Gemtek came and inquired about doing treatments on yard. I signed the contract and unfortunately did not read the fine print on the contract. After 2 treatments I told them I did not want any more treatments. I was not satisfied with the service so I told them not to come again. They continue to show up on my doorstep every month, even though I tell them every time not to come again. Last month he came in the back yard without my permission preparing to do a treatment and I told him I told you I didn't want you to come again. Then last week he was parked out in front of the house. My husband had a serious stroke and I told them I would not pay the cancellation fee. I was not even aware there was a cancellation fee. They did not tell me that when I signed the contract I have called them numerous times plus continue to tell them every time not to come again. I told them I will not pay for treatments I have not received and will not pay the cancellation fee. Please help me resolve this matter.
Desired Settlement: I just want them to stop coming to my house and leave me alone. I do not want them billing me for the cancellation fee.
I am very sorry to hear that you had such a negative experience with our company. I can understand your frustrations and I apologize for the misunderstanding about our maintenance contract. However, in order to bring down the cost of regular maintenance services for our customers we do offer a maintenance contract. This contract also allows the customer to call us for unlimited free re-treatments if there is ever a problem between services. As part of this contract there is an early termination fee to recoup some of the large discount we give on the first service.
We do train our salesman to explain the contract to each potential customer and offer them the chance to read it over before signing the document. I hope that you can understand our position on this matter.
That being said, we are a local company and we would like to build positive relationships in the community so I have instructed our customer service department to contact you and resolve this issue but please let me know if for some reason that resolution is unsatisfactory.
Thank you for your helping us improve our customer service and our company in general. I hope that you will consider using our services again in the future.
BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
