Complaint: Called Everything Outdoors and set up an appointment for them to turn on my sprinkler system and make needed repairs on May 17, 2012, back flow pipe was broken. It was discovered during the winter when I had a huge water bill that the back flow pipe was broken when the water company was called to see why I had such a large bill. Everything Outdoors came out and turned on system and installed part of the back flow pipe that was broken. The installer was ******* and he had gotten the wrong size pipe for part of the repair, I saw it and he said it would not hurt to let that part go for now and would finish the repair in the fall when the system was closed down. The cost for the pipe was $222.88 and total cost of the bill for May 17, 2012 was $312.70, once I got the bill I called Everything Outdoors and paid in full with my credit card on June 1, 2012. There was one sprinkler head that was not working right and was told they would be back out to repair when they did not show up again I once again called and asked for ******* to get this fixed. ******* was here again on June 4, 2012 and checked the sprinkler head and at the same time checked on why the system was set to go off at 4 A. M. and was going off at 2 P.M. This bill was $46.90 and I once again paid in full useing my credit card on June 13, 2012. The clock system still was not working right so I called and set up another appointment, I asked for a discount on the repair as it was the same clock issue however it was discovered it was not the clock but a valve and informed not warrenty work but they would give me a discount on labor as a courtesy. I was mad and instead of paying the total bill of $41.25 I sent a check for $10.00 with a note asking about the pipe work done on May 17, 2012 for $222.88. I have never heard from Everything Outdoors and before I send another check I want to know when they will finish this repair. I do not plan on useing them for the winter close and want the work completed they started in May.
Desired Settlement: Want the pipe that was the wrong size and not fixed in May, fixed. I do not want to pay another trip charge of $45.00 as that was paid in May when they first came out. They could have gone and gotten the right size of pipe then and we would not have this issue today. It sprays water when system is turned off and on at main turn on.
May 17, 2012 – ***** (sprinkler tech) went out the customer’s house to check on a leak that the customer had called into our office about. She had not used the sprinkler system for two years prior to calling us to come out and check everything and get it running again. ***** found that she had a crack in part of the Backflow Device. ***** discussed with her that not all of the underground backflow needed to be replaced but only the broken part. And that this would save her between 1Hr to 1Hr 30Min of labor cost since ***** wouldn’t need to dig up the box also. She agreed and so ***** replaced the whole Backflow Device minus the ball valves (which were not cracked). There was never an issue with having the wrong size pipe to repair the Backflow properly.
June 4, 2012 – On this visit, the customer had additional issue with mechanical timer sometimes starting over after initial watering cycle had finished. The problem was with the micro switch on an old RC-Timer and we adjusted it. The sprinkler system was checked and all worked normal.
June 12, 2012 – On this visit it was not a timer issue. There was a valve solenoid short that would blow the fuse on the timer. The valve was replaced and problem resolved.
As mentioned above the ball valves were not replaced so we do owe the customer a credit on the ball valves which I did call her after I received her letter in the mail but unfortunately I was unable to reach her and left a voicemail to call me back in regards to the billing. And I have not heard from her until this letter.
Once I received the letter from BBB I have attempted to contact the customer multiple times - 09/05/12, 09/06/12, and 09/07/12 so we are able to set up a date and time to fix the issue. The phone kept ringing so I was unable to leave a voicemail.
Thank you for your time.

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ********** and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
F irst I do not have voicemail or any answering device on my phone line so how could I get a voice mail from Everything outdoors? The second problem is Ii saw the part that was to small to replace the cracked pipe, which is still cracked and sprays water everywhere when system turned on and off at main line.
Since we are unable to get in contact with the consumer to resolve the issues, please have her contact us when she has time.
Thank you for your time.
