If you’ve visited a cemetery to pay respects to loved ones and found that it wasn’t being well maintained, BBB® says visitors should first file a complaint with the cemetery management. If that doesn’t work, file a complaint with the state.
The Ohio Department of Commerce established the Ohio Cemetery Dispute Resolution Commission to look into consumer complaints such as how the cemetery is maintained, how it is managed, and issues involving sales– including interment rights, burial containers and markers.
Complaints filed will be sent to the cemetery operator for resolution. If it’s not resolved, the operator will have to appear before the commission and suggestions will be made to resolve the issue.
