Before sending your children out on Halloween night, be sure their costumes are not too loose so they become a tripping hazard. At the same time, the Ohio Department of Aging says a costume that’s too tight can limit their movements.
Avoid costumes with long capes or robes that can snag on objects or get tangled up with their feet. Make sure they’re wearing sensible shoes so they’ll be less likely to stumble.
If you’ll be accompanying the little ones be sure to carry a flashlight and watch for uneven sidewalks, curbs, debris and other tripping hazards.
If you decorate your yard make sure sidewalks are far enough from decorations, and are free from cords and debris, so visitors don’t trip on them.
