You’re probably aware of this, but we’re pretty proud of our seal. BBB’s seal does a pretty good job of telling you that you can trust a company with your money. It’s no surprise that the occasional business takes it upon themselves to use it when they’re not supposed to—in other words, when they’re not a BBB Accredited Business.
Yeah. That happens. Since we’re on the lookout, we notice it—more often than you might think.
We keep our eye out for businesses using the seal because we recognize the value of the BBB Torch, and understand what it represents to both local businesses and consumers. It’s a symbol of trust—and when a business uses the seal when they shouldn’t be, there’s a risk that the value of that symbol could be diminished.
Where we see BBB’s seal being misused, we contact the company in question and ask that they remove the logo from their ads. It’s the best thing we can do to make sure that when you see the BBB Torch, you know that you can trust the business displaying it.
