Malware or a Deal? Beware of Fake Groupon Emails!

One of the latest malware tricks involves email spammers pretending to be affiliated with Groupon discounts or offers.

The emails contain a misspelled subject line of “Groupon dicount gifts” which should automatically cause readers to think twice about their legitimacy.

The pretend Groupon claims that a friend has found a deal on the website and decided to share it, so you are receiving a discount code. Click here to see an example of this email. Unfortunately, the only thing attached to this email is a Trojan horse to infect your computer.

BBB is reminding all computer users to maintain updated anti-virus and anti-malware software and to always think twice before opening an attached file or visiting an unknown link.
