With the cost of healthcare going up, and many of Americans’ waistlines growing, a lot of us are looking for ways to keep fit. Some of us like to turn to infomercials and see what the latest and greatest products and programs are out there to help us catch up to our— possibly abandoned—New Years’ resolutions.
The FTC issued a news release today that the marketers of the AB Circle Pro will be paying as much as $12 million in refunds to settle charges placed by the FTC. The FTC found the marketers used deceptive advertising claims stating that training with the AB Circle Pro for just 3 minutes a day could help you lose more than 10 pounds in two weeks. The infomercial also claims that Jennifer Nicole Lee, the host, lost 80 pounds just by using the product.
Wishful thinking. The only sure way to whittle the pounds away is by good, old fashion exercise and a healthy diet—which many people find boring or at times expensive. But it doesn’t have to be. Taking a walk with your dog, going bowling with friends, or joining a community sports league can all be great ways to exercise and have fun.
