Verizon Wireless will begin to charge customers to upgrade to a new phone beginning April 22, reports USA Today.
Falling in line with other major wireless carriers, such as AT&T, Verizon will charge customers $30 to upgrade to a new phone. The fee comes as cellphone companies are facing cuts in their profits by subsidizing the price of smartphones. Verizon plans to use the new revenue to help fund customer support and online education services.
