Of the 63,000 business complaints received by The Better Business Bureau of Metropolitan New York in 2011, financial service issues were complained about most, according to Bloomberg. The 7,267 financial services complaints were mostly in regards to issues relating to credit cards and mortgages.
Nationally, 55% of complaints received by the Federal Trade Commission were related to any type of fraud, with identity theft ranking at the top. These 2011 findings remind consumers to beware of solicitors’ attempts at wiring money, acquiring personal information and other tactics of fraudsters.
