check 150x150 Stalzer Sales Warns Consumers About Bogus Cashier’s CheckBBB in Oakland, California has alerted us to a bogus check scam involving one of their local businesses, Stalzer Sales.  Scammers obtained the business’ FedEx Account Number and Sign On Information.  The account number was used to send approximately 175 next day air envelopes to people throughout the US.  It is believed that most potential victims had posted advertisements on Craigs List.

The envelopes contained cashier’s checks drawn on Wachovia Bank in the Fort Lauderdale area or on Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco.  The checks ranged from $1,000 – $9,000.  The envelopes also listed Stalzer Sales and their actual address as the return address.

Stalzer Sales LLC is a manufacturer representative which sells chimney products in Northern California and Northwest Nevada.  The company states they have never had any dealings with CraigsList or any similar service as a buyer or a seller.

The company has asked that any consumer who receives the check, please do not cash and destroy immediately.

BBB cautions consumers to be wary of any unexpected check.  More information on this type of scam is available at www.fakecheck.org.
