The Better Business Bureau of Metropolitan New York was recently featured in the New York Times regarding mortgage lender complaints and the new Consumer Protection Financial Bureau.
Financial service companies generated the most complaints to the BBB of Metropolitan New York in 2010, according to the most recent data. The BBB tracked a staggering 11,224 consumer complaints against financial companies in 2010, 48% higher than in 2009.
Many of these complaints involved loan modifications, specifically the length of time it took to complete one. The BBB will intervene on behalf of a consumer for both BBB accredited and non accredited businesses after the initial complaint is filed.
