women on phone large  300x199 AT&T Raising Prices on Data PlansAT&T plans to raise its prices by as much as 33% on data plans for smartphones and tablets.

The new rates go into effect Jan. 22 for new customers and are mostly a result of the 40% data usage increase that AT&T sees each year. Customers on the least-expensive plan will pay $20 per month for 300 megabytes of data (currently it is $15 for 200 megabytes), according to the Wall Street Journal. AT&T’s 5 gigabyte plan will rise to $50 monthly.
