Good news for local businesses: A new study finds small retailers are more optimistic for the holiday retail season, reports USA Today.
According to the survey from Manta, almost half of all mom-and-pop retailers have a better outlook for holiday sales than they did last year. In addition, four out of ten already have better sales than last fall.
Many consumers turn to local shops to find unique gifts, as well as to have the more personal experience than shopping in a large corporate store. Plus, a purchase from a local retailer has three times the economic impact that a corporate purchase does.
Look for deals from local shops on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. Three-fourths of the surveyed small shops said they will utilize social media to spread the word.
