I woke up this morning to a warning from Positive Life Radio to pass on: Today is Cyber Monday. While there will be good deals online, there could also be a plethora of scams aimed at online shoppers.
Please remember that you should beware of unknown sites, senders, emails, and attachments. Don’t click on pop-ups, and type in web addresses of major retailers yourself. Make sure there is an https:// in the address for security.
According to the radio station, the top three targeted products today may be:
- The Apple iPhone 4-S
- Harry Potter merchandise (especially The Deathly Hallows Part II)
- the game Angry Birds
As always, be mindful of the fact that “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
Some further tips for Cyber Monday online safety can be found the national BBB News Center and in a Fox News article on the subject.
