Light roast coffee lovers rejoice: Starbucks has unveiled its lighter, “Blonde” roast, reports the Huffington Post.
Longtime critics of the coffee company have stated that Starbucks’ coffee is too dark and bitter. According to a Nielsen research (cited by the company), nearly 40 percent of U.S. coffee-drinkers prefer a lighter roast. In addition, 70 percent of grocery store coffee sales are of light and medium roast coffee.
The new Blonde Roast will hit stores in January under the names “Verana Blend” and “Willow Blend.” The premium roasts will retail for $11.95 and $12.95, respectively. To differentiate between the roasts in stores, Starbucks will organize coffee by three rankings: blonde, medium and dark.
