Bogus Email Survey Posing as KFC

Our Colleagues at the Louisville BBB have alerted us to a bogus online survey using the Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) name and offering a $100 KFC gift card.  According to the consumer who contacted BBB, they received an email invitation to participate in a survey.  The KFC logo appeared on the survey and the first few questions were related to KFC but the bulk of the 30 question survey was for other businesses and products.  The customer did not receive the $100 gift card as promised; however, they have received several telemarketing calls from other businesses.  KFC advised BBB that they are not the sponsor of this survey and that no gift cards will be issued.

While we’ve all become accustomed to receiving email surveys to solicit our feedback, be sure to verify the source of any surveys before participating and providing personal information.  Be wary of unusually generous incentives or requests for sensitive personal or financial information.  If you’ve been the victim of a bogus online survey, you can file a complaint with the Internet Crime Center at www.ic3.gov.
