Every year it seems as if back-to-school sales begin earlier in the summer. This year’s no different with Toys R Us’ “Pack to School” sale on backpacks and lunchboxes that started as early as July 1 in some parts of the country, according to USA Today.
Why do businesses start the sales so early? Probably because consumers open their wallets when it comes to school goods. Last year, consumers spent more than $55 billion on back-to-school supplies, according to the National Retail Federation.
