Jiffy Lube is changing its long held “one-size fits all” mantra that oil should be changed every 3,000 miles. Instead, they will begin to factor in driving habits and recommendations from the car’s owner’s manual to determine when it should come in for an oil change.
Their new system uses a kiosk with a computer to access a database of manufacturer guidelines, that according to the individuals driving style, will recommend what type of oil change schedule they should maintain, according to USA Today. Most people in participating Jiffy Lube locations are choosing the severe driving schedule, which includes city traffic and temperature extremes USA Today reported. This means that customers are choosing oil-change schedules that indicate they will return regularly.
