Marketplace Counselor

BBB Serving the Atlantic Provinces is a not-for-profit organization that exists to promote marketplace trust. We do this by delivering several very important programs across Atlantic Canada.

As a Marketplace Counsellor, your role is to work directly with companies and consumers, delivering those programs. Specifically, you will:

  • Resolve complaints, working directly with consumers and businesses to help them come to an acceptable resolution
  • Administer the Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Program (CAMVAP), which resolves disputes between vehicle manufacturers and consumers through binding arbitration
  • Conduct investigations; helping to identify companies with patterns of complaints and assessing what actions, if any, should be taken
  • Perform ad reviews, seeking out potentially misleading advertising, and helping companies be more responsible in their advertising practices
  • Ensuring all the information about these activities is entered accurately and promptly in our database, which exists to help consumers make informed choices

What we look for in our Marketplace Counsellors:

  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills (strong preference for bilingual candidates)
  • Demonstrated ability to deal constructively with difficult situations and conflict
  • Strong team orientation
  • Attention to detail
  • Genuine passion for helping people, and for promoting ethical business practices

We offer a competitive compensation package, including health benefits, and a central downtown office location. We’re building on our team of professionals who share these characteristics, and who want to support each other and have fun, while also doing some very important work for Atlantic Canadians.

If you think that this role might be the career move you’re looking for, we'd love to hear from you. Email us a resume (.pdf or .doc format, please), along with a cover letter that explains why this role interests you.
