In 2017, KBS installed a new furnace at the property I recently purchased. The exhaust venting had corroded so badly from a botched install that the electrical unit inside the furnace shorted out and needed replacement. The vent was getting too hot and generating condensation, sending dripping carbon monoxide water down the pipe and into the furnace. If they'd have installed it correctly for the new 80% furnace they put in, it would have been a 4-inch double-wall B vent all the way to the roof with a modern chimney cap. Instead, they used a 6-inch single-wall connected to a 6.5-inch concrete flu and huge iron chimney cap from the ****s (probably intended for a boiler). A professional knows that would cause condensation. It was not only not safe, but eventually, lead to a relatively new furnace being in terrible condition. The previous owner said they never explained this to him and he trusted they were doing it correctly. I called KBS and explained. Even though the issue derived entirely from improper installation, they refused to even diagnose the problem they caused without a $99 fee. I said I would pay for the repairs as I understand things happen. I found it completely absurd that they wouldn't honor their work and at least check out the problem they caused. They understand what they messed up and wouldn't even credit the diagnosis fee of $99 towards the work. It is bad business. A new furnace should not be in this condition just 4 years later. The repair through an alternative vendor was $500 and took less than 2 hours. Future customers should be aware that they don't honor their work when they cause problems that show up years later.
