In 2019 we had a trip booked with Encounter Tours for ***** and ******. Due to covid 19 we were unable to go. We had a credit of $6500 that we needed to use or lose. We contacted ***** about a new trip to ****** for February 2023, he made it seem like he planned trips there all the time. We liked everything he gave us except we changed one thing we changed our jungle tour to a helicopter tour. ***** asked for an additional $2200 we thought it was strange that a 19 day trip to ***** and ****** cost less than a 7 day trip to ******, but we gave the first $1100 but the second half was to be paid later. 4 days before we were leaving we contacted ***** for our vouchers for all the excursions, he told us that he was waiting on something but everything was confirmed. We asked him for the names of the companies and he gave the wrong names because he had nothing booked at the time. We called every single company on both islands and nothing was booked or confirmed. He lied to us about this. Due to his lies we never paid the second portion of the $2200. Upon arriving in Maui we found out we had to pay taxes for the resort and breakfast was not included. ***** told ** he was going to refund us for the taxes and breakfast and we also had a $80.00 taxi cab ride that he was going to refund. 3 days later we flew to kauai and our luggage was not included in the flight, so we had to pay an additional $50.00. We never charged ***** for breakfast but we did want the taxes,the taxi ride and the luggage fee all refunded, It totalled to be $218.00 which was put on the card the first day, and then removed. I contacted my credit card company and they said that there is nothing pending from encounter tours. ***** sent a receipt to cover himself but my credit card company said that he pulled the money back. I just want my money back and for people to know that he is a terrible business man and seems as though he is running a ponzy scheme
