Consumers allege they hired BrownPaperTickets.com to manage their ticket sales and have not received the funds for the proceeds from their events. Consumers claim the company is blaming COVID, reduction in staff, and failure of their operations. Consumers who purchased tickets through BrownPaperTickets.com are also alleging they are having difficulties receiving refunds for events that were cancelled due to COVID.
BBB reached out to the company in an effort to address the underlying cause of its pattern of complaints.
As of June 23, 2020, BrownPaperTickets.com has not responded to BBB.
On November 23, 2021, Better Business Bureau reached out to Brown Paper Tickets LLC by email and US Mail asking them to respond to BBB's advertising review and investigations into their business practices. BBB has searched our files and database, Tracers, Google, and the Secretary of State to provide a background of the company to better understand how they operate. BBB performed an advertising review to investigate how this company is advertising on their website. A letter asking Brown Paper Tickets LLC to address their pattern of complaints and advertising concerns was sent.
On December 3, 2021, BBB Called both numbers on file: (800) 838-3006, which is no longer accepting calls for customer service issues, and (206) 377-9871, which allowed BBB to leave a message for call back.
A final letter was sent to Brown Paper Tickets LLC on December 3, 2021. As of December 16, 2021, there has been no response from Brown Paper Tickets LLC.

On November 23, 2021, Better Business Bureau contacted Brown Paper Tickets LLC regarding an advertising claim found on its website,https://www.brownpapertickets.com. Specifically, Brown Paper Tickets LLC claims, "You can collect payment through Brown Paper Tickets' credit card processing for no additional fee. For payments collected this way, we send payment within ten (10) business days after the end of your event for the full-face value of tickets sold.", "For free events, there's no cost for you or your attendees. Zero. Nada. Free events are always free!", "Brown Paper Tickets: best ticket company we've ever used. Absolute legends. Awesome customer service."
Advertisements should be truthful, sincere offers to sell. Advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request. All advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided. Claims that relate to tangible qualities and performance values of a product or service can be used when the advertiser has substantiation. Claims relating to performance and results should be backed up by reliable evidence.
A formal written request to substantiate these claims have been emailed and mailed to Brown Paper Tickets on November 23, 2021.
To date BBB has not received a response from the Company.
