Company is scandalous and cruel! I worked for this company by applying to northern hospitality group via indeed and their company website. I did the interview process and was hired as a sous chef, I was promised things during my interview: such as a shuttle to ********* (nearest shopping that is not overpriced), reimbursement for flight to ****** after 30 days (I flew from ********** and lasted longer than 30 days), work 55 hours a week so that I could use days off to explore, $850 salary per week. Reality: I was not trained at all for being a sous chef and was treated like a slave **** instead. The chef was verbally abusive and no structure was in place for kitchen. Was told to manage employees but was only given vague instructions and when chef changed his mind, we got the backlash. Food was kept in unsafe conditions and I was mocked for being a Serv Safe instructor because I followed the chefs ridiculous instructions. They left food out at night, under heat lambs for over an hour for service, did not heat food to proper temperatures. We were not able to eat/take lunches or breaks at all!! Worked 13+ hours a day. Talked down to like a dog. Expected to drink heavily by company, they even served us the alcohol to excess!their was no shuttle, I spoke with employees who have been with company for years. They informed me that they never had a shuttle. Which means they flat out lied to me. I was able to get a ride with a bus only after threatening to quit. Was fired for not clocking out for breaks but for first serval weeks they clocked us in and out without our approval/input. Never reimbursed for flight even though I worked for them over 30 days!Confronted management, they tried to lie and say we were exempt employees who did not get overtime or healthcare provided. Both of those are false, we should have received overtime for anything after 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. The first few weeks we worked 70+ hours and given no overtime!
