Complaint: For the last two years quarterly we have paid $200 to have WA Heating & Air Conditioning maintain our heating/AC unit in the office. The reason we did this was to avoid the system breaking down and having to pay even more money with the system did break down. One week after they came in to do their $200 quarterly maintainence our ac unit broke. They then proceeded to come in and charge us for repair but the unit wasn't fixed (and the maintaince guy said they wouldn't charge us for the labor since they were just in our office a week ago but we still got billed). Now I have had to pay for 2 invoices for a broken ac unit. We had to bring in another company to fix what they couldn't so all together now 3 invoices for one broken ac unit. Plus the maintaince guy made a comment that "I am never happy with anything". It was very unprofessional to charge us for work that didn't repair the unit and on top of that make a rude comment to a client. I have never put in a complaint to the bbb but our experience with WA Heating & Air Conditioning was an experience I hope no other customers experience.

Desired Settlement: Because I am a responsible business owner I have paid all the invoices for repair that was never done to avoid being sent to collections. We want a refund and I can show the invoice for the other company that had to come in and actually repair our AC system which WA Heating & Air Conditioning unfortunately could not complete.

Business Response: Initial Business Response /* (1000, 14, 2014/09/08) */ 1) Regarding the purpose of maintenance service: A maintenance agreement is intended to keep equipment operating at peak performance, which ultimately can delay major failure of A/C unit over time. It is not intended to prevent breakdown of equipment. 2) When we received a service call request, the customer noted to technician that the A/C unit was not cooling. A few days after he had completed the maintenance work (changing filters, checking connections, checking amps & temperatures), he spent an additional 1.5 hours troubleshooting and making necessary repairs, since it was discovered that a fuse had blown due to a defective thermostat...Upon *** *******'s verbal (phone) approval, the necessary repairs were done that day. It was explained to her that because we had recently been there, we would waive the travel/truck charge of $95 for the service call. Never was it stated to her that she would not have to pay for the technician's extra hours to repair nor for the materials to repair. This was a misunderstanding on her part and when it came time to pay the bill, she had a subsequent conversation with Washington Heating & A/C's office manager and a follow up e-mail explaining this. In the body of the e-mail, it was again explained to her about the misunderstanding and that under the circumstances, she should pay what she felt was "fair" for the work performed. Within a week or two, we did in fact receive full payment for the work and nothing further was said about the incident. The next thing we knew was that she had contacted BBB and filed a formal complaint. She had given us no reason to believe that she was still unhappy after the emailed explanation. We assumed she was going to let it alone since she had paid it soon thereafter. 2) As to our technician's rude and unprofessional remarks about our customer, please understand we do NOT encourage NOR condone our employee's behavior in this matter. He was spoken to about it as soon as we were made aware and counseled that his comments were inappropriate. We sincerely apologize for his rudeness.
