I brought my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado to Specialty Truck and Auto on September 11th of 2013 for a check engine light (P0446- Evaporative Emission Vent Control Circuit), and a window that wouldn't roll up. I had a warranty through ******* ******** **** so I gave them my warranty information and ***** **********, the shop owner, said that they would contact the warranty and let me know what would happen from there. He said it usually takes 24 hours for them to get a response from the warranty and another 24 hours for the warranty to send an adjustor to come and inspect the vehicle. 3 days pass and I still had not received a call from *****, so I decide to call. When I tell him who I am, he says that he was "Just about to call". I ask what's wrong with the truck and he tells me the PCM is faulty and I need a new window transmission/motor. He also states, "The warranty is being difficult and has even been hung up on" and said he called back and left a message to speak to a manager. He proceeds to tell me that "an extended warranty is the biggest waste of money..." and that "extended warranty companies do this all the time to waste time". After hearing this I immediately called the warranty company to see why they were being difficult. I find out that the reason the warranty was not coming out to do the inspection is because ***** said, "he would not diagnose the problem again when the inspector came out because he was not getting paid for it". ***** expected the warranty company to just take his word for what was wrong and leave it at that. I also come to find out from the warranty company that there is no record of ***** ever calling back and leaving a message because there is no answering machine, the lines are staffed by customer service representatives at all times. After hanging up with the warranty company I called ***** back and told him what the warranty company had just told me, and he admits to saying that he was not going to diagnose the problems when the inspector comes out because he was not getting paid for it. I say, "Well what am I supposed to do? The inspector needs to come out and look at the vehicle before he can fix it". He says to call them back and have the warranty company call his shop. At this point I am getting quite frustrated because I have to be the middle man when ***** should have just handled it right the first time. I proceed to call the warranty and they say that ***** has to call THEM to make an appointment to have an adjustor come out and to have ***** call THEM. So I call ***** back and tell him he has to call, which he was less than pleased to hear, and says that he will call them and try to get it figured out and give me a call. It is now September 20th and I still have not received a call from ***** so I decide to call again. He says that he has tried to call and has not talked to anyone yet and he will keep me updated. I go an entire week without a phone call from *****, it is now September 27th, 2 1/2 weeks from the day I brought the truck in, and ***** finally calls me at the end of the day saying he talked to the warranty and they agreed to cover all charges besides the diagnosis. He continues to say that my truck will be fixed by the following Tuesday, October 1st and he will give me a call. Tuesday rolls around and its starting to get close to the end of the day so I decide to call and see if my truck would be ready. He says there were some complications and that my truck would be ready by Friday, October 4th and he would give me a call. At this point it had been 3 weeks and my truck had still not been fixed. Friday, October 4th comes around and I STILL don't get a call from *****, so I decide to call for the 5th or 6th time now to see what is taking so long. He says there was a problem with the new computer and they had to take it to the dealership because they didn't know how to fix it. He also said that it would be done by the following Monday, October 7th and he would once again give me a call. So I wait another weekend and on Monday ***** calls me and says he "doesn't know" when they will be getting my truck back from the dealership and that he isn't going to give me an estimated finished date because he just doesn't know when it will be done. By now I have just about lost all hope that my truck will ever be finished. Finally on Wednesday, October 9th, 4 ENTIRE WEEKS after I brought my truck in to the shop, ***** calls and says my truck is fixed and I can pick it up. I go to his shop immediately to pick it up and before I leave he says, "If you have a check engine light come on or anything else happens just bring it in and we will get it taken care of". Well 3 days, Saturday October 12th, my check engine light comes on, so I go to the auto parts store and borrow one of their computer code readers. I filmed the result so I had proof of the code. After a few seconds the code comes back as none other than P0446- Evaporative Emission Vent Control Circuit. The EXACT same code that I brought it in for in the first place. They supposedly had to replace a faulty PCM because that was apparently making the code come up. So why does the same code come up? Well that Monday, October 14th, I call Specialty Truck and Auto and tell ***** that I have the same check engine light as I did when I brought it in and that I would like for them to get it in as soon as possible because I had already been without a truck for an entire month. He says the soonest date he could look at it is Monday, October 28, 2013th, because they are so backed up and don't have time, so I reluctantly say ok. I called ***** on Friday, October 25th to make sure everything was ok and I could bring it on the 28th as we had agreed 2 weeks earlier. He asks if I can wait a few more weeks because they are just so backed up. I said "No, you told me that 2 weeks ago and you specifically said you could get my truck in on the 28th because you were backed up on the 14th. I want it looked at now because you didn't fix it". He then deflects everything I said using every excuse in the book as to why he can't look at it on the agreed date. I say "Fine, when is the soonest date you can look at it?" He then states that he "Doesn't know when he can look at it" and they just don't have time to look at it anytime soon. So I said I would contact him soon and hung up. This is the worst experience I have EVER encountered with an auto shop. It has now been over a month and a half since I brought my vehicle into Specialty Truck and Auto and it is still not fixed. Not only is it not fixed, ***** doesn't even know WHEN they will be able to look at it again.
I would like a refund for the amount they charged to "fix" my truck and for them to pay to have my truck fixed at a more competent shop elsewhere in Anchorage, or a full refund and for them to fix my truck 100%. Like i stated in the complaint, it has now been over a Month and a half since I brought my truck in and it is still having the exact same problem it was having when I brought it in originally.
